After a few cloudy evenings the sky is completely clear tonight. Just
before 11:00 UTC (22:00 NZDST) McNaught still an easy naked eye
object with the coma being just a fraction dimmer than mag 2. You can
still make out some tail even with the bright moon. With 10X50
binoculars, the tail is clearly visible for about four degrees or so,
making it still a fine sight. The comet being well South now, it
should actually be in the South Eastern dawn sky well before sunrise
and after the moon sets, so the morning view may be better. If I
decide to get up at 5:00 am to have a look, I will report back.

BTW my location is about 37 deg S, 175 E.

Cheers Bill
