I'm a 4th year History student at the University of Alberta and I'm doing a
project on sustainable agriculture. In the late 1990s, I was listening to a
phone-in radio program. There was talk of Monsanto building a facility in
Camrose, Alberta, Canada. It was expected to produce great economic
benefits for the region and it was supported by the Camrose Chamber of
Commerce, the Economic Development Corporation, etc. Of course, there
were its detractors as well. In any case, after a cursory web search I have
been unable to locate any info on the matter and Monsanto's website doesn't
list any offices in the Camrose area. Before I contact the interested
parties, does anyone have any info about this? Did their decision to pull
out have anything to do with the Saskatchewan court case (farmer sued for
illegally planting Round-up Ready canola)?
Thanks for your help.
