I have heard that there is a sort of Russian "language" called Mat. I
have read about it, and it seems that it might well be the native
language of my soul. However, I doubt that it is a real language. In
it, is it possible to say such things as:
"The time now is 23:33"
"How much for a lapdance?"
although I have a feeling that Mat would be exactly the right language
to use to describe my emotional state during a lapdance.
How could I learn Mat? |

It’s the slang and colloquial speech of beggars and prisoners and other
people on the margins of Russian society. More a social register than a
complete language. Have you read
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mat_%28language%29 ?

Spend a couple of years in a Russian prison.

bug-eyed, hexagonal smurf with a head of electrified hair; and God said:

I don't think it would be a very good idea to use any of these words or[/quote:115a75a43c]
expressions in Russia or when talking to a Russian friend or girlfriend.
