Ah, what memories of a simpler time. No paywalls or trolls; nice,
helpful people; the smell of paper and ink.
Of course, without the WWTubes, I'd never have met you or Doug or
Lloyd or Tedd or Peter or lots of other good folks.
Or David, Giwer, JTEM and Elijahovah, either.
I guess it's sort of a wash. |

Not really.

that I am the real deal as a meteorologist -

Sadly, even today, in the library, you won't find
calendars, maps, literature, scrolls, meteorology,
politics, evolution, and assorted disorders, all
sitting on the same shelf, and all pretending to
be something they aren't.
Our way is so much more "entertaining". |

Rebirth of a Masterpiece: Seven Decades Later Berlin’s Neues Museum
Finally Opens
http://www.style.com/vogue/feature/2009/10/rebirth-of-a-masterpiece-seven-decades-later-berlins-neues-museum-finally-opens/?mbid=rss_feature
"Thousands of Berliners lined up last week to catch a glimpse of the
Egyptian queen, one of the 9,000 artifacts on display, many of which
haven’t been seen since the Nazis shuttered the place in 1939.
Originally built in the mid-nineteenth century to showcase Prussia’s
archaeological treasures, the Neues Museum now houses everything from
a 700,000-year-old stone tool to a piece of barbed wire from the
city’s iconic dividing wall, with stops along the way for a
netherworld of sarcophagi, a library of papyrus documents in a Babel
of ancient languages, and, most curious of all: the Berliner Goldhut,
a gilded ceremonial hat with what is believed to be a calendar etched
into its peak—think Coneheads meets Bronze Age sun-worshippers."

Or, and this will blow your little mind, Lloyd could literally walk
100 yards and talk to some of the top actual, working archies in their
fields, right in their lab/museum, about what they were working on
even as they spoke.
Fresh, hot archaeology right out of the oven; no intermediary, no half-
assed local news folks or Chamber of Commerce types, no 'gee whiz'
boosters of the mysterious and secret TRVTH (tm), no ignoramuses
trying (and failing) to look like they knew what they are talking
about.
Just the straight scoop from people who not only know their beans
about real archaeology, but also know how to explain what they are
doing in words clear, precise, accurate and absolutely current.
Though I am sure your way is much, much better. <ironic, mocking
humor> |

He can sure as hell try. Especially when he uses the weapon of
constant explosive diarrhea. He sometimes sneaks in an infectious
variety that mimics dysentery. At such times, the ng becomes
unlivable, sometimes for days.
But your Shit Sandwich idea sure does explain the smell in here
sometimes.
You're right. We need more bread. Or at the very least, more cartoon,
Monty Python and Firesign Theatre references. I've heard that they act
like when you hang one of those cardboard pine tree air fresheners in
your car. They don't eliminate the problem, but they cover up the
smells and help you get through your drive.
Oh, and you are one of the Good Guys. Sorry I forgot to name you
personally. Must be that date line thing. |
