IT isn't and wasn't
Especially when religion was in charge of making it
Thankfully - with less involvement of religion - it has improved
substantially
Children in school can happily say that the earth is a sphere = that
orbits the sun =- and spins on its axis = without fear of being tortured
and killed! (Even in christian schools too - who have to obey the law)
Children who disobey are unlikley to be stoned to death as well.
See =-when you subtract religion - you get rationality.
