BBC states that: "In September this year, two research groups
independently reported the existence of monopoles - "particles" which
carry an overall magnetic charge. But they exist only in the spin ice
crystals.These crystals are made up of pyramids of charged atoms, or
ions, arranged in such a way that when cooled to exceptionally low
temperatures, the materials show tiny, discrete packets of magnetic
charge...."
Of course we would expect a mirroring of the particle / wave duality
in magnetism, paralleling observable effects long known in regard to
light and electricity. Predictably, in magnetism, it only happens at
very low temperatures where everything is slowed down. It would be
predicted to be as if looking from either side of the cosmological
looking glass where magnetism approaches from where, to us, it appears
that there are instantaneous effects such as gravity, in distinction
to how other observable effects appear from the other side. What we
are most likely seeing is the threshold, of observable effects,
between the four dimensioned universe of Einstein, and the five
dimensional universe of the new Cosmology Group (U. of Waterloo,
Perimeter Institute, etc.) That in itself becomes indicative of a
major impending breakthrough as to shifting paradigms in understanding
the universe. |
