Strange! My newsfeed indicates this newsgroup is completely empty.
Can anyone advise me on whether Russian nouns have a vocative case?
I need to mock up an Ouija Board for a movie prop but I don't want to use the
Ouija trademark. Basically, it will have the Russian (cyrillic) alphabet
arching across the top of the board, and a picture of Rasputin stenciled in
the middle, and coated over with varnish or lacqueur (spelling?)
Instead, I want to have it say "RASPUTIN, SPEAK" in the most crassly
commercial way possible. Would the verb be in the subjunctive? Or would it
be in the imperative? Or would it be a 3rd person singular indicative
active?
I posted this query over at Craigslist, and got a smattering of replies but
the question must have gone way over the head of the experts over there. Man,
those guys don't even know what a citation utility is! |

Russian nouns have no vocative, and the verb in this case would be in
imperative: Распутин, говори! (Rasputin, govori!).
