Hi,
I'm looking for a high-precision & high-speed method to measure the
entrance angle of a Laser-beam.
I have a probe that is illuminated with a HeNe-laser. I would like to
equip the probe with some kind of sensor that cam measure the entrance
angle of the laser beam.
Are there any buyable sollution? Which company is selling sensors for
this application?
Thank you for your help. |

Angular spread? Or tilt angle? |

Try aligning a camera or quadrant detector with your laser detector.
Then you can easily use it to determine the tilt of the incoming beam.

A simple lens converts the beam direction into a position of the laser spot
in the focal plane. Put a quadrant-detector or a CCD chip there, but make
sure that your focused spot is bigger than the gap between the light
sensitive areas.
This will bring you close to the shot noise limited angle sensitivity.

hi,
thank you for the ideas.
The angular aperture should be as big as possible. Good would be +/-
30°.
What about using a DOE like a grating to have more spots for sensing
the position?
Where do I have to put the focus when I use a DOE |
