Yep. Obama is interested in stimulating all parts of the economy
except engineering (what with engineers being non-union and all).

Let's put it in complete persepctive -

"America has to find a way to encourasge more students to major in Math,
Science, and Engineering"

"We need longer school hours to compete with the rest of the world (that
actually values education)"

"We have to save the high salary positions and Million Dollar Bonuses for
banks and investment firms even if it costs hundreds of Billions of Tax
Dollars"

Russia, India, China, Japan ..... all have viable space programs - at this
point we have confusion.

Our approach - underfund NASA and Constellation, and put the folks we
actually did convince to become technical types out of work.

So now say you're in high school selecting a college major - what would you
do.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. The article says:

"United Space Alliance, a private company that employs many shuttle
workers, will lay off 277 people in the coming weeks."

No mention of President Obama, or even anybody in NASA. I'm not
saying it can't possibly be their fault, but why would you think it is?

Now this republicans try to ignore that it was Mr Bush that
decided to close the shuttle program. The blame will be
put into Obama since in 10 months in office he didn't
have the time to change Mr Bush policies in ALL domains.

I agree with more basic education in math, science, physics and
truthful history, but where were you as of decades ago, and what if
anything were you saying back then?

But it was Mr Obama who has elected to shut down all follow on
programs, which is what puts people out of work.

He had time for that one.

Because our Fred J. McCall isn't taking any responsibility for what
gave us this kind of fiasco in the first place. In other words, even
knowing the outcome, it seems they'd do it allover again if given the
opportunity, changing nothing.

So why was he blaming Bush and why didn't you speak up then?

Or is this just The One Can Do No Wrong?

[Shuttle workers were supposed to get transitioned to the new system
(which we probably won't be doing). Shuttle flight rates are no
different now than they were 6 months ago, so how do you blame the end
of the Shuttle (which hasn't happened yet) for this? And is it worth
$4 billion/year to keep these things flying?]

Why is *who* blaming Bush? I don't see his name in my post. And I
don't see it in the article either, or in the OP.

Also, hey, way to not answer my questions.

Where did this come from? I asked why you thought Obama was connected
to this private company's layoff decisions, not claiming that the
Space Shuttle was worth $4 billion a year.

Becasue after they lost the elections republicans will blame Obama
for everything under the sun, layoffs included.

Gee, the Democrats have held Congress for almost three years now and
the White House for the better part of a year. How long do you think
the "it's all the Republicans' fault" line is going to play?
