Searching For Real Geology Groups...

Now that nearly all of the real fans of geology have fled this
newsgroup, leaving it mostly as a playground for mentally disturbed
egotists, I have to ask: Are there any good on-line forums where
geology is discussed? I want to find a group with content similar to
what this group was 7 to 10 years ago.

Please help - I'm starving for geo-content!

I'm posting this here in the remote possibility that one of the
old-timers may pop in once in a while just out of nostalgia, or
whatever.

Joe

(ps - no offense to you, Barbara; I did say "nearly all")

If you find one - please let me know. This group and
sci.geo.earthquakes are both 90% spammers and nutters now. They used
to be so good.

O.K. let me see your explanation for the symmetrical creation of crust
off the entire length of the mid Atlantic ridge using thermal
convection cells and then we will speak about 'nutters'.

Excellent Mr Oriel ... I applaud both hands in fact at your
remarks.
By the way the epithet "real geology" used by Joe implies some doubt
about the reality of present one....
Could he be looking for True Geology by any chance ?

Somebody needs to establish a moderated earth science newsgroup to include
geology, geophysics, climate.

It's that simple.

I suppose you could worse than here:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/geological/

Traffic is usually very slow, but the more interested people join, the
more the chance it will liven up. But new members are moderated
initially and the lunatic fringe is not tolerated, nor are (generally)
posts with religious or political content. I started the group a few
years ago. For some reason good discussions never really seem to get off
the ground. Worth looking at though, innit?

Regards

That lunatic majority, you should say Johnson.... That mad consensus

Challenge to your Universities backed imbecility & cretinism is
disturbing to you, it seems !

Why not base such proposed site on the Fraudulent Official Geology in
the "Valley of the Blind" ? They sure would welcome you since they
have about the same intelligence of the Universe as the Oxford

An impatient geologist? I'm still pondering my reply to a thread
that started 5 years ago.

You could probably do that on Annexcafe.com, if you like their rules
and assign moderators for the group with limited control.
They have NGs there you can set up <if they still are around>
If I remember right, Greg owns it and Ishie is or was one of the chief
moderators.
At least it would give some control.
