Does an invention have to work in order to be considered an invention?
That’s a question to be asked about Larry Sarner.
Sarner, who is said to have degrees in both mathematics and political
science, set out to invent “better” voting machines.
He didn’t lack for money-he had the backing of Peter Paul Luce, son of
Henry Luce.
His machines did not work, and the company went bankrupt.
There were a lot of lawsuits (see http://axisofquackery.wordpress.com).
Sarner accused Luce of conspiring against him. Sarner lost.
The non-working voting machine designs are the only things Sarner
seems to have invented.
At present, Sarner, and his wife, Linda Rosa, run blogs on the
horrifying topic of “child torture” and seek to discredit therapists
who help children.
The Sarner-Luce connection is worth another visit. Sarner’s current
propaganda activities are reminiscent of those used by Scientology.
Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard believed that Henry Luce, not Isaac
Newton and not Gottfried Leibniz, invented calculus and that it was
part of some kind of black magic operation.
Was Sarner trying for mathematical revenge? Hard to say! |
