I'm working my way through the old FAQs, the ones by Maggie McPherson,
updating anything that needs updating. Although the original FAQs were
written in 1993, most of what's there seems to be fine. But there are a lot
of references to an FTP site that is or was attached to alt.astrology. Is
this still running, and if so, how do you get at it now? Please explain
this assuming that I know nothing about FTP - you won't be far wrong.

Lots of free ftp programs out there. ftp is just a way to transfer
files. You log in to the site, browse the directory tree until you
find what you want, then download it. I use Norton NTTools
Filemanager, since it has an ftp program built in.
The hilbert site is still up, but the ftp destination is gone. Just go
the web site and search on astrology. Looks like more academic stuff
than basic instruction, though.

Why would you ignore the advice of someone as perceptive as me who has
been here since 1994 discussing astrology, and listen to idiots who
