but I will ask again anyway.

Why were we created? By "we", I mean Human Beings." Other than atheists, I
am assuming that the rest of the worlds population believes in some form of
higher being whether that being is God, Allah, Jesus, Buddha, Jehovah etc.
( Please don't be offended if i did not mention your particular "higher
power". There are just too many to mention here.)

I know that this question has been asked since the beginning of time, but I
am asking it again. For arguments sake, and to make this post as short as
possible I am going to use what I know as the example. I was raised
Catholic. I am now 38 years old. The worst thing that could have happened
to me and my belief in the Catholic religion was college. Taking science
courses, taking religious courses, taking philosophy courses etc. before
college, I believed in God and Jesus and the holy Spirit etc. After
college, science makes much more sense to me than my Catholic upbringing
taught me. Again, no dis-respect intended to anyone. Am I a "doubting
Thomas?"...maybe. I guess you could say that if I saw the clouds open up
and a "man" float down from the sky's and land in front of me and proceed to
create cars, people, birds whatever just by saying that's what he wanted, my
belief's would be much stronger. if that same man then walked me to my
local cemetery and called out to my grandmother and she came up through the
ground alive once again, I guess i would be convinced. But, as we all know
that is not going to happen. I hate when people say that miracles happen
all around us everyday. When Mr. John Smith recovers from cancer after
having chemo and radiation treatments they say "it's a miracle".....I say he
was given medications that killed the cancer cells in his body. A baby is
born. They say every birth is a miracle. I say that it is nothing more
than two cells merging and then splitting over and over again until they
form a human being. Is it a miracle when a cat has a litter of kittens? or
is it only a miracle when a human baby is born?

Back to the main question? If there is a "higher Power" why create the
human race? We know and can prove that the earth has been around for
billions of years. Yet man has only been around for what, a few million?
What was the "supreme being" doing the 10 billion years before humans
appeared on the earth? I know, some will respond that 10 billion years to
the supreme being could be like 3 seconds for Him or Her.
O.K...but I still ask, why create us? Here we are now, humans on earth and
all we can do is kill each other with war after war after war. Since the
beginning of recorded time, have we ever been without a war of one type or
another? Little babies being killed....what purpose does that serve?
Innocent humans who get cancer and suffer for years before dying. What does
that prove? All of this is blamed on Adam and Eve in the Catholic religion.
Because Eve took a bite from an apple humanity was then doomed to a life of
hard work and labor. All because of one person? That hardly seems fair.
Why didn't we get to pick a jury of our peers and have a trial over that
issue? Seems a bit biased to me.

Anyway, most people who post and read this newsgroup I would assume have at
least half a brain. I am no scientist nor do i claim to be a "know-it-all".
I just have questions. More that can't be answered than can be.

I am going to stop for now just to see what some people have to say and then
I will continue after the conversations start going back and forth.

Thanks to all of you who are going to respond and again, I did not mean to
offend anyone who may read my post.

Thanks,

Paul
