No, it is an energy drain. the energy is not being used
for what it is supposed to be used for.
It is instead being used to heat the resistance spot.
That is a drain of the energy.
It is an undesired product. It is a waste. It is not a drain.

Is there an electrical outlet anywhere near the car?
I know, I had thought about gettiing one of those rechargers. My car is
parked (assigned space) betweeen a post and the stairwell. I didn't see
anything close by but I am going to scope the walls near the elevator
maybe with an extenson cord? I'm skeptical though
A small charger would be a temporary remedy, save the cost of a road call,
and provide back-up in the future.
Just a thought.

The clock is *terrible* theory for a drain. If it is drawing enough power
to discharge your battery in a few days, the clock will go up in a puff
of smoke.
They typical draw on the order of microamps. If it somehow was able to
draw even a half amp, there'd be seventy watts of power going through it's
pea sized chip. (W=E^2/R) |

No stupid! No Bannanna for you!
A half amp load on a 12V battery would be 6 watts of power, but that would
still be more than enough to smoke the clock's chip. |

Thanks! Hey I've seen those things in all kinds of places but I can't
remember where? Maybe my dad has one. I always thought it was some weird
tool for carpentry or whatever.
I walked around the entirety of the garage and the closest outlet was about
60 feet away. That'd be a really long extension cord. It's a double
outlet. The top one is already in use -- the the huge industrial fan
keeping the garage from being a death trap of fumes, I guess.
Irony: Next to the stairwell next to my car is an electrical closet that I
have no access to.
Did I read the product description correctly - you don't need to have an
outlet, it's got it's own battery that I could probably recharge in my own
apartment and bring it down for when I need to?
Please tell me assure me this is right and not wishful thinking?

Easy fix. We make the week shorter. You can see the intended effect on
the length of days. In the Winter, the cold makes the days contract,
Summer heat makes the days expand, therefore longer.
So, I ask you, what is a week but a number of days strung together?
Shorter week, greater efficiency...and that's with NO Aggrandization!

Well, I'm not sure if you're talking to me or the psychopath, but,
A charger will plug into the wall and hook onto the battery.
A jump box is like a small breifcase that you charge up elsewhere, and
then carry to, and hook up to, your battery for a boost.
Both have benefits.
Quote: I walked around the entirety of the garage and the closest outlet was

Not for a small charger.
Of course, I'm a homeowner, and can think of a dozen other uses for a 60

That's a jump box- much more portable than a charger, but with a more
limited (less forgiving) utility.

Well, I'm not sure if you're talking to me or the psychopath, but,
I guess both but I don't know who the psychopath is anyway
Roger "Rocky" Wittikind, who's been taken to court for extensive stalking
of a female previously, so, don't respond to him if he e-mails.
He also posts here (misc.transport.trucking), frequently, under the names
of other posters, and also develops bizzare and schitzophrenic titles for
himself.
He has a score of self aggrandizing web pages that explain his tragic and
victimized existence.
He's an unemployed mental patient from East Moline, Il, who's attempted to
assume a trucker's persona (no one knows why).
I have him killfiled so I can't see his side of the conversation with you.

Assuming that counting on a donor car for jump starting is
disadvantageous-
Do you think you could get your battery out of the car?
You -could- carry the battery to an Advance or Autozone autoparts store-
they'll charge and check it for free.
Keep in mind that they'll be pre-disposed to try and sell you a new
battery.
You said this one was about a year old- where did you purchase it?
It kinda boils down to whether you want to fix the problem, or temporarily
circumvent it.

That's a unique way to put it-
When I got divorced, I tried to reduce my material possessions to where
they would fit into one pick-up truck bed- it was liberating.

This is so weird. The car is a 95 or 96 I forget which. I had the

They sent one of those cute little battery vans
