One of the big things that seems to be missing in most of the oil debates
is any recognition of the subsidies that gasoline and diesel currently get
from government. The economists that are worth spit will tell you that
the cost of the Iraq crap will be about 3 trillion bucks. And every bit
of that cost should be added at the pump. If it had been done all
along that would make the current price of gasoline about $7.50 a gallon.
And if you have any qualms at all about a profits tax on the oil companies
to help pay down the debt caused by the Iraq fiasco then you just aren't
eating right.
