The order-of-magnitude theoretical and WAMP experimental estimates for
relic Dark Matter abundance are respectively:
1) Omega_DM h^2 ~ 3 x 10^(-27) cm^3 s^(-1)/<sigma_ann v_DM>
2) Omega_DM h^2 ~ 0.1 = 10^(-1)
Equating the two yields:
3) <sigma_ann v_DM> ~ 3 x 10^(-26) cm^3 s^(-1)
where subscript DM is Dark Matter and this (3) is the thermal
annihilation cross-section times the relative velocity. This thermal
freeze-out value turns out to be consistent with the typical size of
weak interaction cross-sections, which Krolikowski points out provides
strong numerical arguments for neutralinos of the SUSY extension of SM
as candidate for WIMP and for the thermal mechanism of their
decoupling in the early Universe.
Incidentally, Reader Uncle Al, whose comments on my last post that
developed this from Krolinkowski included mainly the words "snip" and
"turd", is apparently confusing Dark Matter with the Dark Force of
Darth Vader, who apparently from his manner of posting is one of his
in-group heroes. Well, so much for his in-group of
sci.physics.research, unless they have some explanation of one of
their most prominent members' behavior.
