I can't do electric burners. One of the first things I would look at
when we were house shopping was whether the stove was gas or electric,
and if electric, where the gas line was. Give me gas or I'm using
propane:).
I ended up going gas when we had to get a new stove because I was tired of
all the pans warping.
This nonstick that I got from Costco is lightweight but really quite thick.
There is no way it's going to warp.
I will post the brand as soon as the paella I'm cooking is done:).
We eat dinner really late sometimes.

Ok, the pan is a Bialetti, made in Italy.
Awesome pan and only cost about $28 if I remember correctly.

Yeah? Well, anything will warp when used by an 8- or 9-year-old without
adult supervision (not to mention that I never have really successfully
trained them to be excruciatingly careful about protecting the nonstick
surface.). Trust me. I have bought pans from Costco and they got
ruined, which is why I ended up decided to stick with my cast iron.
It's warp-proof, metal instrument-proof, etc., and I *have* managed to
successfully train the small fry not to put the cast iron pots in teh
dishwashmachine (after regaling them countless times with the story of
my mom doing it, my dad cleaning the pan with Naval Jelly and then
scouring it with Brillo pads and hot water and re-seasoning it, and then
my mom with her fried brain thinking that if he had used Naval Jelly
they wouldn't be safe to cook with so she stuck them in the
dishwashmachine again, and that time my dad just pitched them). |

I will look at it next time I am in Costco (if it's still there), but I
think with my stainless steel and cast iron, I am probably set for the
rest of my life. Maybe once the small fry are TOTALLY gone, I might try
getting something for a paella pan when I actually have time and the
presence of mind to try cooking paella -- it looked so easy when Gordon
Ramsay cooked it on some TV show that had a snippet up on YouTube. |

The lamb recipe thread kind of piqued my curiosity about what things you
guys would not eat when you were a kid that you enjoy eating now.
The ones I mentioned were olives, raisins and any kind of seafood.

Brussels sprouts and salmon.
Things I didn't want to eat when I was younger and still don't want to
eat now: cooked green peppers, asparagus, shrimp, crawfish, lobster,
crab.

The only things I really hated when I was a kid that I still hate is any
combination of savory and sweet, such as lamb with mint jelly or turkey
with cranberry sauce, yeccchhhhhh.
Those two types of food just don't belong together as far as I'm
concerned.

I never care for asparagas (? sp)/> I LOVE lobster!! Can't think of
anything else. I had to stay at the table until I finished the asparagas...
yuck, still dont' like it, what could it be?
