Because of the rising gas prices, the TV news anchors are predicting
less cars will be on the road this weekend. Well, I just got back
from driving the short distance to the grocery store one town over to
buy milk, and both the surface streets and nearby freeway 101 were
packed.
I did see the gas stations had signs showing regular was between $3.95
and $3.99, so I'll be stretching my remaining half tank of gas by
staying in the rest of the weekend. Besides, driving on holiday
weekends has always made me nervous since the first accident I saw
when I started driving back in 1974 was on Memorial Day.
All of you, stay safe whether at home or driving. There are maniacs
out there on the roads.

They were ALL out yesterday. I'm pretty sure they must have opened the
gates and let the idiots out, every last stinking one of them. I couldn't
get over the number of people who were playing games on the freeway, racing
each other, dodging in and out of traffic, etc. I was so glad to get home,
I don't think I'll get back in the car the rest of the weekend!!!

Well, it is sunny and nice around here for another weekend and if you want
to see idiots come to Washington in sunny weather. Let's just say it is like
nothing but stoners/drunks and lunatics on the road. Last weekend I about
got killed and my sister just called to say she was in a fender bender. An
idiot just turned left right in front of her and she ran into him. Cops said
it was an obvious situation. Guy said I didn't turn in front of anyone. They
are such airheads around here between cell phones/lattes and texting or
reading papers and books YES READING while driving.

People really, really don't seem to realize how stupid they drive when
they're on their cell phones! You can pick them out from behind almost
every time. At least five or so miles an hour under the speed limit, no
turn signals, lane jumping at idiotic times, constantly bobbling in their
lane, if not weaving altogether...geez!!!! They're all over the place here.
I would dearly love to see it made illegal here to use a cell phone when
driving unless it's hands-free. Unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not
something that's even been suggested. Don't get me wrong; I love my
cell phone, but there's a time and place to use the danged things!

Anne, I've been spending the day inside watching a marathon of old
"America's Next Top Model" episodes. For some reason, seeing all
those skinny, young girls with their backbiting ways make me feel good
about myself. I think it may be because I've made it through life
without being a bitchy woman, at least not too much. Hey, nobody's
perfect!
I'm also doing some housework, building another cat from all the shed
fur I'm finding.

I think you've got the right idea there, Gisele! I'm probably just going to
hang out in the A/C here, though--our sauna weather has officially begun.
There's a beach nearby that it seemed like nobody knew about for the
first few years I lived here, which was great, but the hordes have found it
now, so that's probably another place to avoid this weekend! I bet
Galveston's a zoo, too. Nah, I think I'll just stay home.
