If the '68 and '92 primary seasons had begun as early as this present
one did, I think Clinton would have a point. But they didn't, and she
doesn't. That, to me, is the only point of the story.

A lot of people were saying the same thing about Hillary when the nomination
was more in question, that the Republicans wanted her to get in because they
felt McCain had a better chance of beating her. Remember Rush Limbaugh's
Operation Chaos? Either way, I'm sure they'd like to blacken both Dem
candidates' eyes, as that's pretty much the only chance they have of winning
the presidency this time around.

I don't really believe she meant anything awful by it, but it WAS a pretty
careless statement, considering the death threats Obama has received from
the time he announced his candidacy.

I agree. She stated a fact. My feeling is that the Republicans think they
have a better chance of beating Obama and are adding fuel to the fire, or
may have even started the fire. The statement was not made in a speech or
large gathering either--just to defend her position of remaining in the
contest. She said the same thing some time ago, and nobody said anything
then!

She seems to have conveniently forgotten that California has since moved
their primary from June up to February, I guess.

I sure hope you are both right. I don't trust the electorate, and people

may not want to talk about the race card but it is there and nobody really
knows what effect it will have.

I'm sure she was just tired, and it was a misspeak.

The "race card" is there because the liberal media keeps hyping it, at
least to a great extent. I'm not saying that racism is dead in this
country. I'm saying it's still alive, largely because it benefits the
liberal cause.

I really disagree with that. I think the media stirs things up sometimes,
but I don't think it's because it benefits any kind of liberal cause.

The general media, by and large, is liberal. That cannot be denied.
That media, combined with the "benefits" that racism gives the liberal
cause, is keeping fueling racism.

Um, that should be fueling racism.

I don't see that race will have anything to do with who wins the
election. McCain ain't exactly hot competition.

Anne,

Why do you think the largely liberal media "stirs thing up"?

Hardly since the media (radio is 90% conservative). Newspapers are owned by
Rupert Murdoch and Rev Sun Yung Moon conservative (about 75% or more). There
are a few very liberal ones but not near the load of the conservative as
evidenced by the MASS protection of Bush and now McCain.

Unfortunately, I would previously have agreed that there wasn't that much
racism until my daily discussions with my friend in Alabama. She tells me it
is no different than in the 60s in the south. She has lived (in the last 30
years) in high end neighborhoods (her late husband was quite wealthy) of
Florida, Boston, Kentucky and now for over 20 years in Alabama. She says to
me always, trust me it is alive and well down south. To be honest it is
alive and well in plenty of northern areas as well. The first time my nephew
went to Boise he said he stuck out like a sore thumb. But that is a lot like
Salt Lake, Mormon country.

Fox News is liberal? What exactly is the "liberal cause"? And how does
racism benefit it?
