ive woken up with a headache in the back of my head and neck for more
than a year. i am a severe nightime clencher, and i do believe that is
at the root of my problem. however, i tried an NTI, prescribed by a
neurologist and i only would wake up in the middle of the night
completely clamped down on it, and would feel my jaw joints moving
back into socket or something after i would take it out. for the next
two weeks i would have the most excruciating headache(like knives
being twisted into my ears). i more than dissapointed, as nothing has
worked for my clenching and headahces. and to make matters worse, it
seems that the 3 TMJ specialists did their exam and couldnt find any
tenderdness of my joint, so no treatment suggested. so although my jaw
hurts and i clench every night there is no relation? These are so-
called specialists. do i just keep searching for a dentist who will
tell me i have tmj and take all of my money? sheesh. one neuro tried
telling me i have transformed migraine and another thinks its from the
clenching. i dont know who to believe.

btw this whole thing started after i opened my mouth sideways and
dislocated somethings. since then it pops about weekly and the muscle
in my
post skull and neck and face are constantly in spasm, pinching my jaw
joint. regardless of all of this, the three other "tmj specialists", 2
of them ucla proffessors, see nothing wrong and tried to funnel me to
their pain psychologist. absolutely ridiculous.

Hello,

First, I'm wondering if you would mind cross-posting your thread to
sci.med.dentistry ... There are a number of dentists there whom I
think
would be interested in discussing this with you and smd's readers.

And secondly, since you're seeing dentists associated with UCLA, I'm
assuming you could make a trip to San Diego for an opinion with Dr.
Boyd. Since you've been prescribed an NTI, and you did not find the
results effective, maybe a visit to see him (the inventor) is in order
since he's only a couple hours away from LA.

Hoping to see the thread cross-posted to sci.med.dentistry

BTW, you said a neurologist prescribed the NTI. Who actually made the
NTI and followed your progress with it?

You should realize, if you already don't, that the device should be
reevaluated. What have the "3 TMJ specialists" said about the NTI?

The "3 TMJ specialists" ... what makes them so special anyway?

i have no idea what makes them special, i believe the only criteria
for treating tmj is willingness to accept huge amounts of money for
providing 15 minutes of time. And i got my NTI from Dr. Boyd, whom i
visited three times without actually receiving an exam, and after not
making any progress He decided not to return my emails. And i have yet
to crosspost, so im not sure how do to that. thanks

Is there a reply hidden in this posting somewhere? I am not going to spend

tell me i have tmj and take all of my money? sheesh. one neuro tried
telling me i have transformed migraine and another thinks its from the
clenching. i dont know who to believe.

btw this whole thing started after i opened my mouth sideways and
dislocated somethings. since then it pops about weekly and the muscle
in my
post skull and neck and face are constantly in spasm, pinching my jaw
joint. regardless of all of this, the three other "tmj specialists", 2
of them ucla proffessors, see nothing wrong and tried to funnel me to
their pain psychologist. absolutely ridiculous.

And i have yet
to crosspost, so im not sure how do to that. thanks
