Hi there,
Owner of an oldie GPS III Pilot from Garmin, I just want to try to
get a new database. As the procedure is rather borring, I had
finnaly downloaded a piece of software. When running it, conforming to
Garmin... it can retrieve my data ...but unable to upload the
device afterwards ;-(
As I also use a Flight Planner software since many years, this
can perfectly well communicate with my GPS. Then I think that
Garmin has a problem ...not to get the money from your credit
card.
Then I no longer think that Garmin is on the top on aviation
and will sure move to another provider... able to manage the
updates correctly !

Maybe you should've titled your post "Haven't bought...in a really
long time."
That thing's been discontinued for a while now. Updated data can't
really be expected to be 100% backwards compatible forever.
The last firmware update for the III Pilot was just over 5 years ago -
an eternity in most electronics.
