Vague and sketchy. This author is glossing over the more significant
categorical distinctions. Savanna chimps are more communally
territorialistic (collectively aggressive) than are jungle chimps
(bonopo).

This last statement is vague and, frankly, wrong. There is absolutely
no reason to assume that ground-based behavior would selectively
propel them toward tool usage. Tool usage requires consciousness/
intelligence. The only selective process in nature that could
possibly selectively propel them toward consciousness/intelligence is
group selection like the communal selection in my hypothesis. And for
this to happen Fongoli would have to have an aspect that involves
predatory massacres, like those theorized in my hypothesis. It seems
to not have this element. Or, at least, not to the same degree as I
envision in my hypothesis. |
