Note this part:

"What's particularly interesting is that Lockheed chose the
commercial
Spaceport America for the flight test; io9 calls it the new Area 51,"

The new Area 51? Does mean all the flying saucer wreckage and
alien bodies are being moved there now? Smile

The disc craft and other oddities were moved to Utah many years ago.

Ah, is that the one run by Buzz "Aldrin" Lightyear?

Space Command is in Colorado Springs. Nearby is Cheyenne Mountain
where we have a secret instantaneous galactic transportation device.

Aliens do not exist, or at least not in Area 51. Can anyone explain to
me how the spacecraft of an advanced civilization can crash in the way
the buffs claim! Nothing has been moved to Utah since there was
nothing to move.

No, the real point of interest for us is the technical details.
Lockheed have produced a 1/5 scale model. If everything is faithfully
to scale it will mean that the wing loading and stall is in a 5:1
ratio, stall will be –5 (the perfect ratio?).

Crucially what temperature will the airframe reach during reentry
given that the wing loading is 1/5? Will tiles be necessary, or will
the airframe cope with the heat without. It may well be that one major
factor standing in the way of lower cost spaceflight is the design of
airframe.

With all the concerns about possible damage to the Space
Shuttle's heat shield during launch, or damage by space
debris while in orbit, I'm surprised another spaceplane
type design is being considered.

Note that the heat shield on Orion (as it was with Apollo)
is tucked in between the crew and service modules
for the bulk of the flight.

Is a constantly-exposed heat shield a good idea?

It never occurred to you that such a design might have advantages over
a capsule design?

After 2 Shuttle disasters, NASA's going back to capsules for now.

Though it looks like the Lockheed design is going to be unmanned
(even in the larger versions), which changes things with regard
to acceptable risk.

That's old news the NAZIs had one of those flying before Ww2 ended. It
is stolen technology from Germany, and they keep releasing this type
of stuff saying it's their latest achievement in technology to hide
the fact that they have been billions of light years away using flying
saucers, and back. This is doping us with dumbness to hide their UFOs
that are multidimensional ships.

I actually got one of these in a photo with a swastika on it, wanna
see it?
