Climate change alarmism continues to wreak havoc throughout the world,
Egypt being the most recent example. In the last year, bread prices have
climbed 36%, leading to rioting by the hungry. Bread riots are also
occurring Yemen and Pakistan, as they have in other countries over the
last year, while in other nations food protests have taken other forms.
The cause of this upset, the Third World perceives, is the wholesale
conversion of food crops to fuel uses. With the West's
climate-change-panicked governments desperate to take action, any
action, to be seen to be doing something, the world's agriculture has
been turned to the service of filling the gas tanks of the trendy. It is
done in the name of sustainable development but just how sustainable is
this development?

Lie. The corn used to make ethanol is not the same as the corn grown
as food. And Brazil uses sugar cane.
Besides, ethanol is to make us "energy indepedent" -- no
environmentalist is seriously pushing it as a GW solution.

Every acre of food corn not planted because you planted alcohol
producing varieties is ethanol causing a food shortage.
Only if that acreage would have been planted with food crops
otherwise. And it wouldn't. Farmers get paid to not grow so much, to
keep prices up.
Besides, most of the third world where food and food prices are a
concern don't eat much corn -- more rice. And you don't grow rice in
Iowa.

As an energy replacement for OIL, it's a mediocre way to go and should
be part of the plan. As Global Warming is imaginary we need not
attribute progress to some fake cause. We need to stop using oil to win
the war on Islamic nut bags. Any alternative will be better than
fighting the Islamics in the streets. Taking their funding away will help.

But on the bright side, that mash remaining after the Alcohol is
extracted, can be used as animal feed. So rather than becoming VEGANS we
need to increase meat production to use the waste from Alcohol fuel
production.

Why don't you take a reading comprehension class, see the words
"the Third World Perceives"?
There is always some political nuts that will blame the
only thing they are against, it goes on in everyday life, somebody
is always tearing down something or somebody.

They should, if the stories about a new way to make ethanol
without fermenting and distillation are true, ethanol could have
a hundred times the benefit it has now, even yard waste could be
used to produce it. |

Wheat biofuels? Cite please.
Since the dollar has fallen against the currency of many
countries that buy US grain, prices should be lower in those countries.
News reporters should be liable for any disruption of the
peace writing articles that indirectly incite violence.
I just bought my quarterly stock of crackers (I only buy when
they are on sale), and the price hasn't changed in 3 years.
I don't eat bread with yeast in it, because literature given
me by my doctor said the US is the only country where people suffer
from diverticulosis, and it is the soft white yeast bread that seems
to cause it.
Food prices in the US have gone up less than anything else,
with milk being an exception. |
