I See that Scott Parazynski has headed off to Everest. I'd like to wish him the best of luck and hope he gets to the top and returns safely.
I know that another NASA astronaut tried the mountain. Karl Gordon Henize who flew on STS 51-F died of respiratory and heart failure during a climb of Mount Everest in 1993.
have any other Astro's tried to climb the mountain?

Actually, that describes most ordinary people.
I am the unusual one in that I don't suffer from this. I've got a
clear understanding of my place in the universe, and a fairly rough
understanding of the universe and how it works as regards to my every
day reality, because I incorporate scientific methods into my everyday
reality. So I'm not so hung up on the mortality thing.
Mountains are like oceans, they are very unforgiving places, but
people like us still go out there. Some people, like me, actually live
there. We know the risks.
Don't worry, they'll pamper his ass, it's the NASA way! |
