This ain't happening. Else it would be warmer here and we wouldn't have
people freezing their behinds in places like San Diego.

But, you have to remember, southern Californians are wimps. If it
gets down to 60 F, people "freeze their behinds." In Minnesota, when
it gets that warm, they go out into the back yard in their t-shirts
and fire up the grill . ;-)

Worse than that, when I lived in Massachusetts, if it got above
freezing I'd go outside without a jacket ;-)

Now I'm like SoCal's, this morning was a CHILLY 58°F Wink

Not all of us. I barbequed several times at temps around freezing and
with hail that almost came sideways. Had to tie one handle of the Weber
to a pillar and strap down the lid so the whole thing wouldn't fly off
(no kidding).

Half the atmosphere's CO2 increase from pre-industrial times to 2004
occurred since about 1972-1973.

You may be referring to the fact that global temperatures were the same
in the late 1970's as in the very early 1930's. In the mid 1970's there
was a bit of talk about an ice age. Maybe all that soot, ash and sulfuric
acid aerosol that went into the air back in dirtier times was good for
something!

Liberalism and the "Green" movement are religions, based on faith, not
on fact, worshipping the great god Algor. Algor was confronted
yesterday about using a movie prop instead of a real glacier in "An
Inconvenient Truth". It was "inconvenient" for Algor to respond.

Vote Democrat... we need a depression to reset values and send all the
over-paid leftist weenies back to welfare.

No, actually it was a science article titled something like "Global
Warming - a Cosmic Perspective".

The warmingists completely dismiss albedo, probably because they've
never heard of it.

Have they never heard of clouds either? ;-)

There is actually some research done on that topic. Some scientists
noticed that evaporation rates were dropping (due to decreased solar
energy flux) rather than increasing (due to temp increases).

Their conclusion was that the increase in particulates at high altitudes
in the atmosphere were offsetting the effects of greenhouse gasses.

I don't think that the principles involved are bunk. Its just that we
haven't put together a decent model of how the climate works and without
it, we won't have a good idea about whether proposed solutions are just
money thrown down a rathole.

OK, so even if it _were_ true that the planet is getting warmer, what's

What's so bad about there being less need for heating fuel?

And when did you green weenies flip-flop from hugging trees to wanting

It depends if your location is in the top end of liveable temperature

range, like here in some parts of Spain, it just can go from
acceptable, to difficult.

In colder climates the permafrost will tend to release more methane,
which is not a good idea

No, they now have proof that global warming is true. It was just posted
in a German NG:

Wonder what the picture will be in 2010 ;-)

Duh, they want to ban CO2!

Sheesh!

How is slowing an increase from 35% above pre-industrial-revolution
level a ban on its presence in the atmosphere?

For that matter, how would reverting CO2 presence in the atmosphere to
pre-industrial-revolution level be banning its presence?

More cogent predictions are showing relatively flat, but decreasing
temperatures, over the next five years.

We're running cool (so far) in Phoenix this year. Only had a couple
of days over 90°F.

Our standard is 190 days per year over 90°F.

Everyone stay away... it's hotter than hell here ;-)

Hell is a large domain, there are regions of nothing but quicksand,
sustained temperatures of over 110 F, sustained temperatures of below
10 F, both of which can be at 0 or 100 percent limit humidity, or
irregularly switch either temperature or humidity, wall to wall or
anywhere in between. 30 seconds notice max.
