I need some advice really and hope someone here can help? I've got the
opportunity to aquire a turkey (hatching egg), now I only have chickens and
what I would like to know, before I go ahead or not, is whether I can put
the egg under a broody (she will sit on anything that is egg-like!)? Also
will she see the turkey chick as her own and will the other chickens accept
the turkey? I have plenty of room so that's not an issue, I just won't go
ahead with it if it is a bad idea.

Advice very much appreciated

Its an unknown.
Until its hatched you have no way of knowing how your hen will react. She
may be fine, she may kill it instantly, she may just walk away from it.

A separate issue is one of how good it is to raise one bird alone, I would
never sell one egg / day old alone, unless it was to make up a group.
Another is what will you do if its male?
and another yet is I would suggest you research "blackhead" before mixing
your chickens with turkeys.

Thanks Jill. Concerning what we'll do if it's male........I don't need to
comment on that subject! I will give the "Blackhead" some research and see
what that has to say - I don't want to risk my healthy flock.
