I have a theory that the "Dark Ages" or the time when nobles where very
rough with "peasants" by killing them and having thier "right" of
intercourse with them led to a higher average intellect of the population
that helped bring about the prosperity that we see in Europe and western
civilization today.

Are there any studies that has theories that examine how intellect could
have evolved positively or negatively based on events in history? Or vice
versa, changes in civilization that happened due to changes in intellectual
ability?

I would be interested in reading about them.
