uranium at $25,000/kg would only increase the cost of electricity by 1
cent/kwh? or do you continue to insist that we'll run out of
something that can be gotten as $300/kg by the billions of tons from
sea water, granite, or coal ash?

I've built 6 prototypes of the Superconducting rotory toroidal transformer
my main technology and have only invested at most $100. but i'm not asking
for venture capitol. I would much rather you peer review the technology.

A rotary toroidal transformer can be very volumetric efficient,
whereas any time you can compress magnetics by half its volume is
going to offer a 16 fold increase in the energy hauling or transfer
capacity. This is a very good improvement that's well worth doing if
there's no significant friction or subsequent wear taking place. Even
a 25% volumetric reduction is worth a 4:1 energy density improvement.

Do you realize what really is going down? (obviously not)

Thorium is everywhere, and thorium is also relatively cheap plus a
whole lot safer than uranium. The problem is that our "no child left
behind" program is working exactly as planned, isn't it, with having
created more snookered and dumbfounded folks getting misinformed and
uneducated by the hour.

Just the last year of global inflation that's energy related has cost
us another extra $5+ trillion, and it's only going to get a whole lot
worse unless a thousand thorium reactors can be put on-line. The
problem is, that even if we (speaking of the world) had the spare loot
and were allowed to construct those thousand thorium reactors, whereas
nations such as our USA would still be energy poor and otherwise
screwed because it would be more than another spendy and lethal decade
before the first of our thorium reactors went on-line.

BTW, your "uranium at $25,000/kg" is not the all-inclusive birth to
grave cost, not by any long shot, is it. It's not just the raw fuel
that needs to get paid for when dealing with the birth to grave of
uranium usage, plus you always need to incorporate those ENRON profit
margins plus the DoD needs. The only reason for using uranium in the
first place is for the secondary or breeder worth of obtaining weapons
grade Pu238.

Of course in addition to constructing those thorium reactors, America
also needs to construct many of those greatly improved fossil fuel
refineries (including coal gasification) in order to stay off WWIII
until we can become energy independent via thorium and renewable
alternatives.

Brad, do you realize that in a closed fuel cycle like that of france,
uranium at $25,000/kg would only increase the cost of electricity by 1
cent/kwh? or do you continue to insist that we'll run out of
something that can be gotten as $300/kg by the billions of tons from
sea water, granite, or coal ash?

Thorium is everywhere, and thorium is also relatively cheap plus a
whole lot safer than uranium. The problem is that our "no child left
behind" program is working exactly as planned, isn't it, with having
created more snookered and dumbfounded folks getting misinformed and
uneducated by the hour.

Just the last year of global inflation that's energy related has cost
us another extra $5+ trillion, and it's only going to get a whole lot
worse unless a thousand thorium reactors can be put on-line. The
problem is, that even if we (speaking of the world) had the spare loot
and were allowed to construct those thousand thorium reactors, whereas
nations such as our USA would still be energy poor and otherwise
screwed because it would be more than another spendy and lethal decade
before the first of our thorium reactors went on-line.

BTW, your "uranium at $25,000/kg" is not the all-inclusive birth to
grave cost, not by any long shot, is it. It's not just the raw fuel
that needs to get paid for when dealing with the birth to grave of
uranium usage, plus you always need to incorporate those ENRON profit
margins plus the DoD needs. The only reason for using uranium in the
first place is for the secondary or breeder worth of obtaining weapons
grade Pu238.

Of course in addition to constructing those thorium reactors, America
also needs to construct many of those greatly improved fossil fuel
refineries (including coal gasification) in order to stay off WWIII
until we can become energy independent via thorium and renewable
alternatives.

Brad, yes, I am aware of the straight dope on energy, we're in a
world of shit, and no mistake. However, it makes little to no
difference wetehr we fuel the new 1000 reactors that we both agree we
need with uranium or thorium, we have enough fuel either way. I
happen to agree that thorium is the better choice, but I don't have 3
billion dollars for a nuclear plant, so I will just be happy with
whatever tech the people who DO have 3 billion dollars to commit to
this venture decide to build. I will be happy with it because the
options are a) nuclear plants in quantity, and b) deaths by the
billions. Now, I admit that I am a selfish bastard, I would prefer to
live in a nuclear powered world compared to one in which I NEED my
rifle. You're WAY off on the costs and availability of uranium
though, thorium is a very nice adjunct but it is by no means needed.
My $25000/kg of uranium is the cost/kg at which uranium generated
electricity increases in cost by *1* cent/kwh.
