The 2 'smooth' surfaces below are illuminated by a Hg lamp with normal
incidence. Surface 2 is moving downwards and I monitor the time-
resolved signal which gives interference oscillations (looking at a
single wavelength via a spectrometer).
What determines the amplitude (max-min) of the oscillations..? What
will be the effect of monitoring a wavelength which is not an emission
line compared to one which is..? Excepting of course the signal
strength and oscillation period will be different.
