Was the green glow ionisation caused by speed or was it OMS/thrusters?

OMS and APU exhaust, my guess.  The catalyzsed hydrazine used to drive
the APUs contains unburned ammonia and hydrogen; perhaps it's burning
externally for a while, but not above the lower atmosphere.

I think this is the first video of a totally dark night launch I've
seen, and I can only guess at some of the visible events.  It was
very interesting!

Although it seemed the camera settings kept changing . . . there were
a few moments where it almost seemed where you could see in the IR
renage (I suspect there is no real IR in those ET cams) There were a
couple of glowing leading edges on the wings that were quite neat to
see.

Oh . . . and it was kind of neat to see the APU exhaust chuffing from
the top of the vehicle after MECO. Something else that a night time
view allowed us to see.
