It was Carter that funded the research into spread spectrum, phased
array antennas, and computer waveform analysis which, after Reagan
took over, were brought to the Voice of America. With these new
technologies, they were able to analyze the Soviet jamming signals,
and in effect use them as a carrier wave. With phased array antennas,
they were able to manipulate the phase of the signal so that the
Soviets could not use the traditional triangulation to figure out
where the signals were coming from.
The upshot was that the VOA could then tell the Poles where the next
Solidarity meeting would be, and the local law enforcement could not
cope with the numbers. Thanx to Carter, not Raygun.
It was Carter also who warned us of our dependance on foreign oil and
wanted to ramp up technological innovation to deal with that as a
national security issue.
And, it was Carter who noticed the American Malaise. Now, we are
finding out what the nature of that disease is. There are several
factors, but among them is the fact that you cant raise kids on sugar
cereals, junkfood, and soda, and expect them to become rational
adults. which is how Bush got in office.
Agribusiness does the land with Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potash.
[that's a period] But unfortunately research reveals that for maximal
mental development, trace minerals, like iron, copper, zinc,
manganese, and micro nutrients absorbed by plants from the natural
biota in the soil are needed by some of the 150 or so
neurotransmitters when laying down new neural pathways during
learning.
The mental dysfunction is why its so easy to drive posters to using ad
hominum rather than logic. Carter did not know what the solution was,
but he did at least know there was a problem. Made worse by the
palliatives Raygun supplied for which our children may well face
bankruptcy. |
