Many microscopes (Leica, Wild, Nikon) provide what I've seen described as
an "ISO 38mm photoport" (or phototube), yet I can't find a reference to the
actual ISO standard. Anyone know the reference, or better yet, have an
actual copy? I've reverse engineered some of the mechanical and optical
properties, but I'd much rather have authoritative specifications.

Try:

ISO 10937:2000
Light microscopes. Diameter of interchangeable eyepieces

Thanks for the suggestion. Have you seen the 38mm photoport in that
document? I had assumed the title "eyepieces" did not include photoports,
but maybe it does. And "diameter" in the title seems pretty restrictive,
as if it didn't deal with focal planes or optical axis lengths.
