I was surprised that anyone had so little self- interest.  That they
would spend so much time being close to what they claim to dislike.

My thoughts on what you wrote, even though I know you announced you
will not read them, are this.
People take their aggression out on the internet, because to do so in
person would be a social faux pas and an indiscretion.  If they had a
bad day, they will pick on someone that they can't see because in this
media, unless you have a webcam, the other person is only a page on
usenet.

The 24/7 bile spilling, the mental health communities have ad
campaigns which address this.  In fact they have alot of ad campaigns
addressing all sorts of social problems.  There have been times when I
wondered if calling attention to the problem, was only adding to the
problem.
It's like the writers guild and Television studios took cigarrette
commercials off the air, and even wrote out scenes where characters
were seen smoking.
In this media, you can't smell, so the general public has no clue that
the actor they are viewing actually smokes.
Years ago, IIRC, Hollywood had contracts with their employees which
included that they maintain a lifestyle that is mainstream and
normal.  Now you have headlines of young actors using drugs, dying of
drugs, getting busted in DUI's etc. and all the while those actors are
also espousing political standpoints which others follow because they
have placed them on a pedestal.  If you remember the fight with the
major studios between Mary Tyler Moore etc. She was a pioneer of their
new rights to reject clauses which include that they lead a mainstream
lifestyle.
