Only 1 hurricane hit the US during the 2007
hurricane season but that does not mean
that it was a slow year.

IMHO beach erosion from even a moderate
hurricane can be severe.

AFAIK there are 2 factors for predicting a hurricane
season in the Atlantic -

Enso conditions in the Pacific
Atmospheric dust from Saharan desert

Do you know of any more?

How many major tropical cyclones globally? How many hit China? The
Arabian Gulf? Mexico?
