Hi everybody:

I set the preferences of my computer to 100%, because I want the
computer runs SAH at the very first moment it is possible, but when I
just download a WU, the deadline sets to about 5 days after. System
indicates that WU crunching will be completed in about 21 hours but I
use my computer _at home only_ for about a couple of hours daily, so
the WU will not get finished before a month!, and it will be overdue.
Even more, if I turn my computer on, and do nothing, the SAH program
takes about 98% of processor time, but if I use my computer for
whatever task I need to do, the SAH does not take all the resources
while I use the computer and thus the WU will be finished even later.
I remember that SAH classic did not set any deadline on WUs to be
completed, did it?
Is it possible that the program do not set a close report deadline to
finish the WU? or not to set a deadline? The current WU is 51% and
should have been finished about 24 hs ago, and the system recommends
to abort it. The WU 51% work would be lost!

Message from client is:

Task 05mr07ab.9912.369455.12.6.144_1 is 0.98 days overdue.
[SETI@home] You may not get credit for it. Consider aborting it.

Thanks for the advice

Marco.

Leave it running 24/7. That will stop it from temperature cycling and it will
likely last longer than turning it on and off. And get an monitor that goes into
standby mode and leave it on 24/7 for the same reason. I have not turned a
computer off save for a hard reboot in over ten years and at times I have more
than one running at the same time. I have never lost a computer due to wear out
or "old age."
