Hello all,
Traffic on this group sure has slowed over the years. It's hard to tell who
is still lurking and who has been taken from us mere mortals by early onset
of technological singularity. ;-)
So please raise your hand if you are still reading this group.
Okay - that was nice - now if you could please post that you raised your
hand it'd be easier to see how many potential posters and lurkers are still
out there.  |

Gina Miller's Yahoo group gets about 20 to 30 posts a month:

But you can see that it too has had better days. When that group was seeing
a lot of traffic, so was this one. These are the comparable stats for this
group:

There are a few nanotech-specific blogs, but since they are generally set
up only to allow people to post comments to articles initiated by the blog
owner, they aren't terribly useful to anyone else wishing to initiate a new
line of discussion. Blogs I know of along these lines:

I think it's the case that about as much speculation about the
possibilities and consequences as is reasonable to do absent any concrete
examples has been done. We've had all the "do we need self replicating
assemblers" and "What can we do with utility fog" and even "How can we
build a food synthesiser" discussions and done them to death.
It is sad that very little news seems to be emerging about the
extent of progress or lack thereof towards molecular scale manufacturing
and the like. The conference you mentioned a while ago about "Launching the
Technology Roadmap" sounds encouraging and I for one would love to hear
about what emerges from it. Is anyone lurking here attending ?
I suspect that what we are seeing is not so much a lack of interest
as a lack of people who know what is happening talking about it.

I've been tied-up with other things, but I'm still keeping an eye
on this group.
This is something speculative that I've been mulling-over, but I
feel it needs a bit more thought first.
