Just read it on Wikipedia that RDX is a British name! :)
Jesus you Americans are dumb!!
That's about the only place it shows up and Wikipedia is American, if
you do a UK search there are practically no results -
2,800,000 worldwide
61,700 UK - and that's mainly electronics, nothing to do with
explosives.
Cool, always wondered about the initials and what they meant.
What do they mean ?
I wouldn't know about explosives anyway, it may well be C4.
What the heck? :/
G.F., you are a -guy- right? :/
Oh sorry i forgot all guys in the US learn how to make bombs at school.
No, normal boys (and a lot of normal girls) have fun with fireworks and
pyrotechnics.
Very pupular in the US by the sounds of it.
Some of us grow up and take chemistry in high school, and learn to make
our own KNO3, KClO3, KClO4 and do some rudimentary nitrations on things
like cellulose, put together some compounds like nitrogen triiodide and
make some interesting salts like lead azide and potassium picrate - all
of which are nice explosives (but dangerous in unlucky or stupid hands).
Now i did Chemistry at secondary school but we didn't experiment with
such explosive and dangerous things, perhaps it was thought that teaching
impressionable students how to make explosives wasn't a good idea and not
really necesary - but then you follks like to be different (and awkward),
although i believe it is mandatory in Iraq, as are lessons in wife
beating, weapons use and racial hatred.
Then, many of us go on to college and major in chemistry and physics and
get advanced degrees - all the while perfecting that pyro mixture or
whatever firework it was that struck our fancy.
Yeah.
- I guess playtime fun in the UK doesn't go anywhere, huh?
Only as far as the odd teenager lighting a rocket, sending it
horizontally across the street and blowing a 6 month old babies legs off.
Well, you Brits have always led the world in cruelty and torture. I'll
yield that point to you.
And where did I ever say that I was taught about explosives and
pyrotechnics in school? At that time, learning about them was a driving
force to keep teaching myself more and more about chemistry. A few
friends and I with the same interests were months ahead of our classes -
we wanted to learn about redox, about work funcions, about ionization - we
read ahead and taught ourselves.
Wife beating, weapons use and racial hatred? Talking about yourselves
again, I think

Actually it's mostly an "extra curricular" activity, you must be
confusing the USA with Ireland? ;)

Cool Bob, I followed the same route. :)
Taught myself stoichiometryt and later learned what it was called
one day in chemistry class. It had been a necessary tool to help
balance out the "firecracker powder" formulas for testing.
Comparing, figuring out firecracker powder and teaching myself how
to heat treat high carbon steel to make knives and springs...
There's more to the metallurgy but the information is all written
out and easy to find. Just read it.
The firecracker powder took quite a bit more effort in the research
and experimentation to really "know" what was going on since most of
the inner-workings of a firecracker is mostly hidden.

C-4 is a Military mixture who's main component is RDX, with some other
Energetic Materials, and a Plasticizer, mixed to make it mauluable.
Cyclonite is the american name for RDX, and is used bacause it is
cheap to make, because the precursers are Petrochemical byproducts,
and it has significant Power Density when compared with other
Energetics, in the same class. RDX also has a well defined Entropy
Knee, which makes it very stable, mechanicaly, and chemicaly. This
makes it a very safe Energetic, which requires less training to use,
than other Energetics in its Power Density class. NO Cap and Booster,
No Boom.....
Fucking hell, i didn't realise so many Americans studied explosives, is
it
part of the school curriculum ?
No, we don't....You just happen to be CrossPosting into the
alt.eng.explosives NewsGroup, where the Energetic Materials Science
crowd hangs out. In this NewsGroup we DO have folks that have spent
a lifetime Researching, Studing, Compounding, and using Energetic
Materials.
and if you don't want our expertiese, DON"T crosspost into our NewsGroup

Yes whilst American English is an attempt to be different.
Ignorant ass. American English is a polyglot language as is
British English. Just because it evolved differently over the last
500 years doesn't make American English an "attempt" to be different.
We gave you English and you wanted to be different as you had no
identity of your own.
You "gave" us nothing. We TOOK your english, your froggish, your
spanish, your scandihoovian, your russian, your yiddish, your
chinese, your japanese, your whatever else and formed the base for
American English. We fought a war and kicked your silly red-coated
asses back to limeyland because we intended and accomplished the
right to personal self ownership. In your case you are a subject. If
the queen tells the headsman to put your silly head on a pike and
display it in front of Buckingham Palace there is NOTHING you can do
but run.
Ah that must be that American dream thing you bunch of cock munchers
keep going on about, but dreams aren't real you know.
So tell us about the British Dream - or has it now become the dhimmi
dream?
Of course, praise Allah
Figured that! Too bad you've all become so spineless. |

Yes, we no longer say "whilst", among other things. Our language is
moving ahead in response to social challenges, as has been pointed out
here by many posters. Yes, indeed, vernacular English language
(American English at least) is being continuously revised by
contributions - and outright thefts - from other languages. On the
other hand, words and phrases from English are being taken wholesale
by other languages. It happens both ways. GF - if you insist on
speaking and writing as if you are a Dickens contemporary, do whatever
makes you happy. But - you are more and more irrelevant as your
speech patterns age and get stuck in the past.
Haven't you noticed? Only Americans speak American English, everyone
else speaks proper English except when it's foerced on them by dick
heads like BG.
Well, if you spoke American English, it wouldn't be American, then,
would it? No, it would be something far different. Keep your way - the
world passes you by. |

Oh come on, half of Americans came from England, we colonised that land
:
http://uk.geocities.com/haywardlass/
"The established inhabitants were swept aside, their lands seized."
You really are an idiot. Besides forgetting about the French, the
Spanish, the Portugeuse, the Norse, the Celts and the Asians who also
came here at various times to colonise this continent - just exactly
whom do you think you are talking to relative to who wooped whom?
We took control of America like taking a baby.
Before our Declaration of Independence in 1776, we were British here -
or maybe you didn't know that? When it was decided that we could no
longer take the crap that you were heaping on your own people, enough
was enough, and we kicked your butts with help from the French, who also
hated you. I guess you haven't gotten that far in your intro to western
civilization class?
Yeah you were lucky you found some allies because you wouldn't have done
fuck all on your own.
Yeah - I guess the same could be said about you in 1917 and 1940 ....

Old English began a long time ago. A very long time ago in human
time.
Yes before the roman invasion.
The Romans ruled the roost and made forts and gave forth their
language.
That doesn't make Latin English
http://www.romans-in-britain.org.uk/arl_latin_language.htm
The Catholic religion the country was beneath was in Latin.
Schooling
in those days were in mostly Latin. When they were finally run
out and
left, what was left. Scottish and Latin and some local words for
jargon.
The Indo-European language tree for Modern English is thus:
Germanic --> Western Germanic --> Low German --> Anglo-Saxon (Old
English)
Thence: from Anglo-Saxon --> Middle English (what most think of
old English)
then to Modern English.
The Dutch were Old Saxon replacing Anglo-Saxon --> Middle Low
German - Plattdeutsch.
Remember in the days of old Kings and Queens were family members
all across
Europe and even Russia.
Anglo-Saxon was a mixture of Low German, Latin, and the common and
in-common
language of the Anglos and those from Saxony - And the French
language came from Latin. So Saxony was mixed with Latin as well
as the local common and religion
based words.
Yes whilst American English is an attempt to be different.
Ignorant ass. American English is a polyglot language as is British
English. Just because it evolved differently over the last 500 years
doesn't make American English an "attempt" to be different.
We gave you English and you wanted to be different as you had no
identity of your own.
You "gave" us nothing. We TOOK your english, your froggish, your
spanish, your scandihoovian, your russian, your yiddish, your chinese,
your japanese, your whatever else and formed the base for American
English. We fought a war and kicked your silly red-coated asses back
to limeyland because we intended and accomplished the right to
personal self ownership. In your case you are a subject. If the queen
tells the headsman to put your silly head on a pike and display it in
front of Buckingham Palace there is NOTHING you can do but run.
Ah that must be that American dream thing you bunch of cock munchers
keep going on about, but dreams aren't real you know.
So tell us about the British Dream - or has it now become the dhimmi
dream?
Of course, praise Allah
Figured that! Too bad you've all become so spineless.
Sorry what was that agian Nob ? |

Yeah but it ain't now is it.
Thank God its not. You can keep whatever it is you call English.

We had to be different, since we started out as YOU, and that was
