I think http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/image/images/CrustalAgeGlobe.mov is a
great idea. Could someone do the same with QuickTime VR
( http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/qtvr/ )
instead of a QuickTime video ?

I think http://www.scotese.com/earth.htm is a great idea. Could someone do
the same with QuickTime VR globes instead of image maps ?

I don't have one in the format you are requesting, but I've made one in
..avi format. Here is it, if you are interested:

Thanks to news:47b0c112$0$17394$426a74cc@news.free.fr ,
you can look at http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~rcb7/globaltext2.html and
http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/localgeology/gekmz/paleontology/paleoglobe/
for hight size pictures with continental cover and no text, and a version

What are you referring to as the "google earth one"? I'm intrigued by
the /paleoglobe images from SDSU, but how are they stitched together?
Does it have anything to do with the file 'paleogeography.kmz' ?
(Don't know what app is required to open that one.)

George,
Have you figured out how to switch it to different time periods? It opens
as Middle Devonian, but I notice there are subdirectories on the site for
other periods. Can't see anything obvious to switch time. Maybe one needs
to download the entire site and edit the kmz file...........
cheers

The one at this link:

http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/localgeology/gekmz/paleontology/paleoglobe/

Yes, it has a ".kmz" extension.
