Can anyone suggest a good approach to promote a simple electronic invention
to mass-marketing appliance manufacturers?

I need to know how to find out who to contact to get an audience, pitfalls
to avoid, how to gain credibility, etc. I am not an experienced
entrepreneur, just an engineer with a novel idea.

I'm working on the patent, but I am not sure where to go from there. Thanks
in advance.

Am I to infer zero responses means nobody knows, or nobody cares? Most
interesting, to say the least.

What do you expect in a dead newsgroup? It isn't even supposed to
exist.

How am I supposed to know it is dead? It shows up in the list of available
newsgroups, people post to it, people reply to posts... Can you suggest an
alternative?

try alt.electronics. The most knowledgeable people that I know of in NGs are
in rec.audio.tubes. Forgive yourself about the possible non-relevance and
add that west recommended you.
