I'll be looking into nanomaterials suitable for
fabricating cheap bio-suits over the weeks and months
ahead. I'm thinking from about 15 to 35 years out, a
serious bioterror pandemic will be possible.
Previously I had assumed a future biosensor network as
ubiquitous as telecommunications are now, would be
enough to ward off this threat. But there also needs
to be a means to lower the spread of a highly virulent
pathogen, once detected. A biosuit may be the best
way to go. There are already overpressured tents and
biosuits, but they are very expensive. Increasing
availability of nanotextiles should be the
deflationary driver here.
Does anyone know about any nanotextiles that would be
both cheap and easy to mass produce for the purpose of
constructing biosuits?
