Study: Black Males Perceived As Threat Even by Blacks
Report; Posted on: 2003-10-27 14:32:14 [ Printer friendly ]
Research at the University of Washington and the University of
Colorado shows that most test subjects, White and Black, when they
have to make quick decisions, are more likely to decide that Black
males present a threat than do White males. Test subjects were shown
pictures of White or Black men carrying either a harmless object or
a weapon. The test subjects had one and a half seconds to decide
whether or not to press a "shoot" or "don't shoot" button.
The results indicated that Black men holding harmless objects were
more likely to be shot than White men holding harmless objects.
The researchers concluded that both Blacks and Whites have been
"conditioned by society" to believe Blacks are more likely to be
criminals. Absolutely no mention was made about crime statistics
that show Black men are in fact more likely to be criminals.
"Conditioned by reality" is more like it.
National Vanguard believes if the proportion of Blacks with weapons
in the test had corresponded with real-life Black crime rates, the
results would have been even more meaningful, since the increased
trigger rate for Black males would have matched the increased danger
rate.
