Is it any good? Can you compare it to Trados?

Meanwhile I found out that crossAuthor is a special tool for streamlining
source texts.
The corresponding CAT sw is called "across". As I understand it across
offers more or
less the same services and options as Trados.
I have not worked with any of them so far, therefore I'm asking:
Has anyone worked with both CAT products and what are your experiences?
Which of them would you rather recommend for professional translation of
technical
manuals and marketing texts? And why ?

I have never heard of 'crossAuthor', but I found its web site here:

As you probably know, Trados is the leader in this market. I used the
Trados demo for a few weeks, but it wasn't enough to make me switch.
Instead, I can recommend Déjà Vu from Atril (www.atril.com), which I
have been using since 2000. Many of the contributors to the main user
group [1] have experience with Trados. It sounds like they keep
Trados around for a couple of infrequent tasks, but they prefer DV for
day-to-day use.

Many people will buy Trados because their clients will send them
Trados projects. However, you don't need to buy Trados for that.
Instead, you can work on those projects using DV.
