Hallo zusammen,
Ich suche eine Übersetzung ins Englische für Referendariat, bzw.
Referendar (juristisch). Ich habe mir natürlich schon ein paar
Gedanken gemacht und so z.B. gefunden: legal clerkship, judicial
clerkship, traineeship oder eben die Umschreibung "a period of
practical time at...". Da ich aber sicher gehen will, dachte ich mir,
ich poste es einfach hier und es findet sich sicher jemand, der mir
längeres Suchen erspart.

I don't read German, so I could be entirely wrong, but the training
period for barristers (in England) is called pupillage and for advocates
(in Scotland) is called devilling, where the pupil/devil is apprenticed
to a ?/devil-master.

Thanks to all of you,
It is really kind of tricky, to have something so culture-specific. I
stuck to the good old rule of leaving the German and paraphrasing
afterwards. I'll remember the term pupilage, but I think a barrister is
something we don't have here in Germany. So I better played safe.
Thanks for your advice, so nice to know that there are helpful people
around.
