Geocaching.com announced the Trimble Geocache Navigator for mobile phones.

See: http://www.geocaching.com/mobile/

The price is not bad compared to the price of a gpsr.

I would love to hear how a phone compares to a real gpsr in accuracy and
performance.

Everything old is new again...

Remember when those terrible dinosaurs AOL and Prodigy and Compuserve ruled the
earth? They were trying to sell "services" when all the customer wanted was
"connectivity".

Do people really want a restricted service for $6.99/month which only does
geocaching? Or would they prefer a one-off payment for software which turns
their phone into a general-purpose GPS receiver?

I'm not sure if the second option is even available, but if it were I know which
way I'd go.
