OK. Gunner, you have multiples of everything -- except C3000 Olympus
cameras apparently. :)

Well I'm 26 and i have a spare westinghouse offboard HF unit as my
extra "stuff" to go with my new miller Synchrowave 200 I will build up
a "collection" too i'm sure.

I'm biased the other way. If a company stands by their products enough
to readily have spares for non-warranteed machines i'm doing backflips
at their customer support. If i had to work on something like your
Harnisfager and source a tube or replace some peice on a 60 or 70's
then i'm expecting all the component work

Other than Miller and sometimes HP test and measurement (Now Agilent) i
have never seen a company stand by electronics to that level. Most have
tossed any spares or so on out soon after the product or board revision
and warranty are up.

Brent, I am very much a hobbyist level welder, having never been paid a
penny for any of my welding. I have a WWII era Harnisfager/P&H
transformer type stick/TIG welder rated at 300 amps 100% duty cycle/450
amps 35% duty cycle in my home garage and a Thermal Arc 400 inverter
stick/TIG machine in my basement. That's in addition to my original
Sears plug-select buzz box with outboard HF unit that I started out
TIGing with 4 decades ago (that was a laugh), the Craftsman stick
welder I picked up recently at a salvage store, and my Lincoln Weld-Pak
150 (I think) wire feed unit. My point being that you can't tell a
hobbyist by his hardware.

I may be biased about the ease of plugging in a replacement TDR, since
I have a box full of various types picked up at surplus/salvage for
projects that never came to fruition or as spares or just in case I
need one someday. In fact, now that I think of it, I may be a closet
TDR collector.

In any case, many of the TDRs have the same pinout on an 11-pin
"octal" style connector and the delay required is very common. Now all
we need is information and ongoing interest from Soka.

you're right about tossing spares, etc.
i bought a Fluke 97 and used it a few times.
it developed a problem and when i inquired about repairs, it was
just out of warranty. sorry, they said.
no more fluke for me.

Been there - survived nicely but had to rent a rental truck when the 54'
Bekins truck filled up!

Martin
p.s. I had to have it anyway for various precision drilled rounds of metal
that don't ship well in other hands.
