As I had my interview to do today I gased up the car and figureing I'd be in
Mojave, I took my Topcon Super D along to get a short or two of the roton
rocket now on display there.
I drove to the freeway onramp on Ave A, pointed the car toweards mojave and
said "FREEWAY", I think about two or three mins later I was slowing down in
mojave, figured as I had time I'd take the photos them, so the spaceport I
went. Parked and got 3 shots of it, and got back in car to find battery to
low to crank. So I grabed my paperwork and canera gear and all but ran to
the meeting. which 1.5 hours later was over with and I walked back. I soent
another 2 hours trying to figure out why the tranny wouldn't go into gear,
then just as the battery gave out again, I remembered of all things, the
last pice of transmission linkage had a happen of poping out of it's holes,
looked under the car and there is was ON THE GROUND and both bushings laying
on the ground too. So I gathered up the parts and put the link into place
and a secury guard for the spaceport gave me a jump. I carefully drove out
to the old highway and aimed it home, and I must say it's fun out running a
F16, no time at all to get home. I parked the car and had figured I'd lose
the link, but it's still on there and now when the battery charger has the
battery up by 3:30 I've got to take the old bushing up so the guy can order
the right ones from the warehouse..
One thing to say about that 4bbl Holly carb it was MADE for SPEED and on a
318 engine it gives it all!
