TURMEL: Picketing Tory Stephen Harper at McColeman's HQ

JCT: Stephen Harper, possible nightmare for Prime Minister,
waddled into town Thursday morning Jan 5 2006 for a stock
speech before a crowd of Tory clappers at Phil McColeman's
HQ in Brantford so I decided I'd picket the guy who says
marijuana is so dangerous he'd rather his kids drink alcohol
rather than smoke cannabis.

As I told Lloyd St.Amand the night before, I was an equal
opportunity picketer. I'd picketed Paul Martin when he came
to town last year and now it's Harper's turn. At least Paul
has never lied about marijuana being dangerous though,
unlike the NDP's Layton, he never actually said it was good
stuff.

When I got to Tory Headquarters, the first two buses with
the tag-along media and the tag-along clappers was already
there but the Harper bus was still on the way. When it
pulled up, I got out to start heckling Harper as he made his
way into McColeman's HQ.

I had my huge 5-foot by 3-foot placard saying "Turmel For
Legal Marijuana" and "Why is Supreme Court of Canada Krieger
ruling: "Marijuana prohibition is not constitutional" not in
the Criminal Code? Who could miss it?

I bellowed in stentorian voice that "You want your kids to
drink alcohol rather than smoke cannabis? Don't you know
that alcohol destroys brain cells while marijuana grows new
ones? That's why I'm so sharp and you're so dull. Anyone
your age who says marijuana is a danger is a traitor to the
Pepsi Generation." And then the same treatment when he came
out 20 minutes later.

Years ago I learned that the best way to be heard over a
crowd is to chant loudly in a bass voice. "Trai-----tor."
"Trai----tor to the Pepsi Generation." "Wants his kids to be
drunks like him." "Trai----tor." "You have grown no new
brain cells, that's why I'm so sharp and you're so dull."
All the way from the front door to his bus.

A bunch of reporters came out to find out what I was about
and take pictures but after checking the news reports,
Harper can be happy to know that the noses for news didn't
report on this embarrassing event on the campaign trail.

Goes to show how powerful the Turmel black-out is when
picketing the Tory leader doesn't get a mention. No problem,
it lets the real news come out via me.
