Take my flu shot ... please!

As an 86-year-old resident of a continuing care retirement center, I am
sure that a flu shot has been reserved for me.
I do not want it, and I do not want it to go to the next elderly person
waiting for one.
[/quote:5b791bfadc]
Well, from a "public health" view, you should still consider it.

The shots aren't 100% effective so the protection of any particular
individual is only partly given by his own shot. He is also protected by
the shot received by someone he comes into contact with.

IOW: you are not just taking the shot for yourself but for your community
and those who care for you.

If you lived by yourself and only occasionally went out and had little
contact with other folks then there would be little reason for you to take
the shots.

Personally, I have only gotten the shots ONCE and shortly afterward came
down with "flu like" symptoms. That was at least 15 years ago.

Take my vampiric vaccine ... please!

As an 186-year-old resident of a crypt, I am
sure that some vampiric vaccine has been reserved for me.
I do not want it, and I do not want it to go to the next elder vampire
waiting for one.

I want my vampiric vaccine to be guaranteed to be given to one who
will ravage his/her family, as a curmudgeon or nightstalker, or
to one whose thirst and dark gifts will be needed in
the underworld to curb or eliminate victims of high-class living.

I acquiesce to all in similar environs to consider
refusing their reserved vampiric vaccine for those more deftly given
to others. What have we to look forward to in undeath but addictive
pleasures, increasing strength, fortitude and desire
for our loved ones, and inevitable ascension, whatever our age
and mortality now?

It is not possible to get the flu from a flu vaccine.

However, the first time you have the flu vaccine,
there is a 10% chance of getting "flu-like" symptoms
due to a reaction to the viral capsule proteins.

Perhaps you had that.

These hoaxes come out every few years spread by kooks. It started
with eh Salk Polio vaccine when the first test was improperly made and
being a live virus vaccine (as opposed to the Sabin dead virus
vaccine) gave thousands of people the disease. Even after the
problems were fixed, there were very rare cases of the vaccine causing
the disease, but that's not the case with any but a few types of
vaccines in use today. Most don't even use the while virus, just
pieces which cause the same immune response. But that doesn't keep[
the kooks from spreading hoaxes.

I work for a defense contractor, and a few years ago when Total Quality
Management was all the rage, we were all sent to TQM training. In my
training group there was an Air Force captain, and at the beginning of
the class, we were all supposed to go around the table and explain who
our customer was and how our job related to the customer.

The captain explained that his job was to identify the customer, locate
the customer, and kill him.

He misunderstood who his customer was.
His customer was the government.

Ok, how about the associate of a samurai who's job is to kill him in
case he chickens out of killing himself? I forget the name of the
position.

That would be a kaishaku, whose real purpose is to stop the pain.

The Intel ASCI Red supercomputer placed first in the 11/97 list of
the top 500 supercomputers in the world, at 1.338 TeraFLOPs max.
As of 6/05, it wouldn't make the list.

eating organic foods is dangerous because organic foods have not been
clensed of deadly bacteria from medications. you don't know what kind
of
viruses and bacteria you are getting with each bite into an organic
salad.

I stick with the FDA recommended medicated vegetables.

colonics may cause colon cancer. they disrupt the natural course of
nature inside your body, and
kill helpful "good" bacteria inside your colon. be careful.
