I think you're on the wrong track here, as I was wrong when I jumped to
the conclusion that Autymn was anti-Jewish based on a post that turned
out to have been written by someone else. True, the world is full of
anti-Semites and some of these people are secretly Jews who are ashamed
of their own Jewish heritage, but there isn't any evidence indicating
that Autymn is one of these people.
Besides, what difference does it make? I would think that most Jews
who are proud of their heritage would sleep better at night if they
believed that Autymn's ethnic origin was Scottish-Welsh-German or some
other such combination that America tends to view as melting pot
vanilla. Then again, maybe the Scots, Welsh, and Germans don't want
her either.
Take my word for it, lots of non-Jewish people have heard of the word
"golem" (such as JRR Tolkein.) I think that Autymn just looked at the
".il" on your e-mail address and went fishing for something Israeli to
use in an insult. It certainly fits her pattern.
Also, plenty of Americans have names from the Bible (such as Deborah),
and a person interested in spelling and linguistics would of course
have looked up her name to see the language origin and meaning. |
